Jeya Gell

Greetings.

We are delighted to meet you all through this newsletter and share many works we have done so far.

Digital skills training for children

This month, a computer training program was successfully launched at the DAIA office, providing children with a meaningful way to utilize their vacation time. A total of eleven students from the surrounding areas of Kirubai Nagar enthusiastically participated in the program. The initiative aimed to equip them with essential digital skills and introduce them to the fundamentals of computer usage in a supportive learning environment.

The training was conducted by Mrs. Geetha, who guided the students through the MS Office curriculum with dedication and care. At the end of the program, an examination was held to assess their learning, and all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their efforts and achievements. The program was well received and marked a positive step toward empowering children with valuable technical knowledge.

They shared insights about their operations across 11 locations and explained the earning potential and opportunities available in the tailoring field.

They also highlighted that one month of additional training would be provided to enhance participants' skills and build their confidence. The participants expressed interest and said they would consider the opportunity and respond later.

Tuition centre

DAIA continues to successfully operate tuition centers in Vellapatti, Nachiyarpuram, Kurinji Nagar, Saveriarpuram, and Azhagumuthu Nagar (two centers), supporting children in their academic growth. All students attending these centers performed well in their annual examinations, reflecting their hard work and the consistent guidance provided.

With the onset of the summer holidays, the students have concluded their sessions and bid farewell with great enthusiasm. They have been sent off with warm wishes, with hopes that they will begin the new academic year with renewed energy, joy, and confidence.

Divya’s inspiring success story

Divya joined the Azhagumuthunagar Tuition Center run by DAIA while studying in the 9th grade, along with her sisters, who are also part of the program. Coming from a highly challenging family background, where her mother worked as a daily wage labourer, and her father struggled with alcohol addiction, Divya faced many hardships while balancing household responsibilities and her studies. Despite these difficulties, she remained committed to her education.

At the DAIA tuition center, Divya received consistent academic support along with enriching opportunities such as nutritious snacks, online english classes, a mobile library, and educational field trips. This supportive environment helped her overcome her challenges, excel in her studies, and score well in her public examinations. She is now pursuing her dream course in Critical Care Medicine, with the determination to build a successful future and support her family.

Medical camp

On April 17th, a medical camp for people living with HIV was conducted at St. Thomas Campus in the Kovilpatti area, with 47 individuals participating. The camp provided a supportive and caring environment, where Mrs. Prema shared encouraging words that brought hope and comfort to the attendees.

Dr. Mummoorthy carried out medical examinations and distributed necessary medications to all participants. The program concluded with the provision of lunch and nutritional supplements, promoting the overall health and well-being of everyone present.

Embracing Elders

On April 8th, 41 elderly individuals participated in a camp at Zion Campus in Tuticorin. Mrs. Eben Jason delivered an encouraging message. Each participant received groceries and nutrition powder, and their weights were monitored and recorded. The camp concluded with a delicious meal.
