Success Story - Empowerment
Ms.Karpooraselvi was married at a young age of 16 , having completed primary schooling. She and her husband had a son and a daughter eventually. Both of them are adults now and have gone away to fend for themselves.
She was running a pettishop for their livelihood. They did not have much capital to invest in their shop. DAIA helped them with purchase of stock for their petty shop. With her steadfast hardworking and the help provided by DAIA, she along with her husband were able to make profit enough to start a business raising 200 broiler chicken in their farm.
At the time when DAIA staff spoke with her, her husband gave all the credit of their progress to his wife’s hard work.
Tuition Centre
8 centres are currently run across the outskirts of Tuticorin. They were attended by 194 children this month. The children are given a nutritious snack, and helped with their homework from Monday to Saturday. Around 25 kids attend each of these centres.
