Greetings. I am delighted to meet you all through this newsletter and share many works we have done so far.
Village Development (RUPA Project)
Environmental Sanitation Program and Plastic Awareness
On November 11th, an awareness program was held for the people of Jambulingapuram panchayat about the dangers of not using toilets and the dangers of using plastic. An awareness program was held by DAIA along with the students of Annammal B.Ed., college and Jambulingapuram TDTA School. There was special speech by village leaders. After that, there was a rally in which all the students, village public and village leaders marched with awareness banners in their hands and chanting awareness slogans. They mentioned that this awareness program was useful for the people and the students.
Awareness Program
On 15.11.2022 DAIA organized an awareness program for the villagers of Jambulingapuram on the prevention of anemia. Women above the age of 40 are more likely to develop anemia. Due to this, women are exposed to many sufferings like arm and leg pain, body fatigue etc. If anemia increases, there is a possibility of bleeding gums. To fix it we need to eat the right food. Eat foods rich in iron, calcium and protein. Consume greens and vegetables that are rich in all these. 45 people participated in it.
Grama Seva meeting
On November 11th, DAIA staffs participated in a village Seva meeting at Jambulingapuram village. Panchayat leaders, panchayat administrators, public welfare workers etc. participated in this gathering. In this meeting, on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Ms. Sukanti made an announcement regarding which crops will be subsidized under the Prime Minister's Scheme. Manager of State Bank shared about Saving Scheme for Women Development Scheme. Mr. Francis shared about using public toilet and fixing it. The program was concluded by saying that the people of the village will take efforts to correct this by talking about the ill effects and diseases caused by open defecation.
Kitchen Garden (VIDAI Program)
On November 1st, at Jambulingapuram and Nov 10tv at S.pudhur village people were told about the importance of home garden and the waste water we use daily in kitchen and bathroom can be used for home garden. As a result, water does not stagnate around the house, thereby inhibiting mosquito breeding and the spread of disease. It was said that we can get the satisfaction that we have grown the fruits and curries we need in a healthy manner, using only natural fertilizers and getting quality vegetables and giving good food to our children. Only those who were interested were given seeds.
Vocational Training
2 teenagers have joined driving school in Puthiamputhur who are unable to continue their studies and were encouraged towards self-employment.


Empowerment Scheme
Mrs. Muthulakshmi (52 years) lives in Jambulingapuram with her son. She works as a coolie. She is interested in poultry farming and wants to increase her income. We provided with 5 chickens.
Mrs. Karpagavali(53 years) lives in Jambulingapuram. Her husband passed away. She has a son and a daughter. Her daughter is married. She is a daily labourer. Her income is not enough to support the family. She is very much interested in goat rearing. She expects to raise enough income to support her family by rearing goats. She requested for goat to improve her livelihood and we provided her with two goats.
Mrs. Murugalakshmi (22 years) lives with her parents in S. Puthur village and has one brother. Her father and mother go to daily wages. She studied tailoring at DAIA tailoring training centre. She wants to improve the financial status of the family. We provided her a sewing machine.
Mrs. Ramalakshmi (28 years) lives with her husband in S. Puthur village. She has a son and her husband works as a daily wage labourer. Studied tailoring in tailoring course conducted by DAIA. She requested a sewing machine for her to start a business at home. This will help increase her monthly income. We provided sewing machine.
Mrs. Annapoornam (46 years) lives in Jambulingapuram with her husband. She has two sons. She and her husband run a small petti shop in their village. Her husband is blind in one eye. The Petti shop is their only source of income. She wants to expand the petti shop to increase their family income. We provided grocerie items for the pettishop.
Tailoring Centre
The tailoring centers started in Jumbulingapuram and S.Pudur is progressing well. 8 women are studying in Jumbulingapuram and 11 women are studying in S.Pudur. The women who are undergoing tailoring classes are participating with much interest and enthusiasm.
Adult Literacy
Adult Literacy Program was conducted in Jambulingapuram, S. Pudhur, Pudupacherry villages. 45 people participated in it. Information about general knowledge was the cirriculum for the month. Information about various states of India and the culture of that state were discussed.
Financial Literacy
The economic development program for all the beneficiaries took place in the villages. They shared about further improvement of their livelihood. 35 people attended with interest.
Tuition centre- TATA Proengage
We conduct tuition centres at 10 centres Jothibass nagar, Vellapatti, Kandasamypuram, Thambikai meendan, Rama natchiyarpuram, Rajapandi nagar, Siluvaipatti, Madathur, Vallinayagipuram, Millerpuram regularly. The children are given a nutritious snack, and helped with their homework from Monday to Saturday. On Saturdays, online English classes are run by TATA Proengage volunteers in 4 centres.
Around 25 kids attend each of these centres. To run the tuition centre effectively, TATA Pro-engage along with DAIA together conduct online training classes for the children.
Tuition Centre Children’s Day
Children's Day was celebrated on 14.11.2022 in all 10 training centers run by DAIA. All the students dressed up as national leaders and addressed them. All competitions like sports competition, essay competition, elocution competition, dance competition were held for children. Children who participated were felicitated with prizes. All the students and teachers celebrated this children's day and enjoyed it.


PPP (Positive Parenting Program)
On November 4th, parents meeting was held at the Tuition Centre in Madathur. In this meeting the parents discussed the children's score and progress between the last exam and this exam. The extent to which evening classes play a role in the academic progress of children were discussed.
Tuition Teachers Meeting
On November 30th, a monthly meeting for tuition teachers was held at the DAIA office. Mr.Francis delivered encouraging message. Mrs. Hilda John heard the events that took place at each Tuition center last month. They said that many of the backward students have scored well as the children are more engaged in their studies at each of the tuition centers. On the occasion of Children's Day, children participated in various competitions and showcased their talents. Ms. Abhinayasree a student, who spoke beautifully at the book fair held on behalf of the district, has been published on the website on behalf of the Visual Education Group. All the events this month went well.
Embracing Elders
On November 9th, 45 elders attended the camp at Zion Church, Tuticorin. Mrs.Eben Jason delivered uplifting message. She said that when everyone lives together, no matter how big problems arise in the family, they can be easily overcome. They were given groceries and nutrition powder. Their weight was monitored and recorded. The camp ended with a good meal.
Medical Camp
Tuticorin
On November 5th, 51 patients attended the medical camp held at Zion Church, Tuticorin. Mrs.Dorothy Manimuthu delivered encouraging message. Dr.Mummoorthy examined the patients. Medicines, tonics, and nutrition powder were distributed. The camp ended with a good meal.
Kovilpatti
On November 19th., 51 patients attended the medical camp at St. Paul’s Church, Kovilpatti. Mrs.Prema delivered uplifting message. Dr.Mummoorthy examined the patients. Medicines, tonics, and nutrition powder were distributed. Their weight was monitored and recorded. The camp ended with a good meal.
Its Christmas! Spread the Merry!
A great big thank you to all who stretched out your hearts and hands to bring joy to our brethren in need. ‘Whatever you do to the least of my brothers, you do it unto me’.
We will have our Christmas celebrations on these dates.
