Dear friends,


Greetings. I am delighted to meet you all through this newsletter and share many works we have done so far.

Smile Project

On 24.07.2023  ‘Smile’ program was held at Jambulingapuram village primary school. Mr. David Alaguraj (Headmaster) delivered the welcome address. On 28.07.2023  ‘Smile’ program was held at Pudupachery village Primary School. Mrs. Amala (Teacher) delivered the welcome address. Primary school students and Anganwadi center children participated in this event. Mr. Subash, a ventriloquist, entertained the children by performing puppet shows. Mrs. Hilda John (DAIA Director) said that seeing the joy on the children’s faces is very gratifying.  Then all the children were given toys and snacks. 73 children participated in Jambulingapuram and 37 children in Pudupachery. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

Village Development (RUPA Project)

Village visit

On 24.07.2023 in Jambulingapuram and S.Pudur villages the completion ceremony of sewing training was held at Jambulingapuram. Certificates were awarded to 19 women who completed sewing training.  Beneficiaries of Economic Development Program participated in this. Mrs. Hilda John inquired about their current economic progress. She was especially happy when she heard about the current progress of Lakshmi and Ulagammal.

Tailoring centre

On July 29th a new tailoring centre was started for the welfare of women at Pudupatcheri villiage.14 women are currently undergoing training.

Adult literacy

Adult Literacy Program was held in the villages of S. Pudur, Pudupacherry and Jambulingapuram. All the participants were taught general knowledge.

Tuition Centre

We conduct tuition centres at the following centres (Jothibass nagar, Vellapatti, Kandasamypuram,  Ramanatchiyarpuram, Alazhumuthunagar (2 centres) and Kuringi nagar, regularly. The children are given a nutritious snack, and helped with their homework from Monday to Saturday. Around 25 kids attend each of these centres. To run the tuition centre effectively. TATA Pro-engage along with DAIA together conduct online training classes for the children. 

PPP (Positive Parenting Program)

Mrs. Hilda John visited the Tuition Centers in Alazhumuthunagar, Vellapatti, Jyothibassnagar area. She asked the children's parents and about the children's academic progress.  She shared the message that failure is not the end, but a part of success.  It was a joyous day for both children and parents.

Tuition Teachers Meeting

On 29.07.2023 a monthly meeting for tuition teachers was held at DAIA office. During this meeting Mrs. Jeya Gell shared some encouraging words to the teachers. Mrs. Hilda John heard about their experiences and plans at the Tuition School over the past months. Ms. Prema said about the report. They submitted the reports for the month and recieved the required snacks for the children.

Medical Camps

Medical camps were held in the months of May, June and July for the people of Tuticorin and Kovilpatti. Dr.Mummoorthy examined the patients.  Medicines, tonics, and nutrition powder were distributed. Their weight was monitored and recorded.  The camp ended with a good meal.

Embracing Elders

44 elders participated every month in the months of May, June, July camp at Tuticorin Zion campus. They were given groceries and nutrition powder.  Their weight was monitored and recorded.  The camp ended with a good meal.

Board Meeting

On July 20th, the 23rd Annual general meeting was held at DAIA office. The activities of DAIA and audit reports were presented.
